Disneyland will close Innoventions with Marvel attractions March 31

According to the Orange County Register, Disneyland confirmed the attraction was closing. “As part of our continuing efforts to offer our guests new magic, we regularly make modifications and enhancements throughout the Disneyland Resort,” John McClintock, a Disneyland spokesman, told the newspaper.

The attraction will close March 31, 2015.  The question is what will replace the several Marvel attractions, which include, Thor, Iron Man and Captain America exhibits, in the building?

Considering Disneyland can host Marvel characters, Disney World can not because of pre-existing deals with Universal before Disney acquired Marvel, taking Marvel out of the parks could be a blow to fans There is speculation the area will be expanded to create a Marvel S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters (especially if Disney doesn’t want to do major work on the building).

There are some other thoughts that it could be transformed into a Star Wars Land.

The building opened in 1967 and originally house the Carousel of Progress until 1973 when it was to its current location in Disney World.

The Marvel meet and greets started in 2013.
