Report: Disney eyeing a new Muppet Show for ABC
Can we get a YAYYYYY?
The Hollywood Reporter has news today that ABC is reviving the Muppet Show with a pilot that could go straight to series:
ABC is filming a proof of concept for a revival of The Muppets, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. The Big Bang Theory co-creator Bill Prady is co-writing the script for a pilot presentation that sources say could be unspooled at May’s upfront presentation to Madison Avenue advertisers. Sources tell THR that the project, if all goes well, could go straight to series.
Filming is reportedly set for next weekend, with some of the original Muppet performers returning.
For Prady, this project is a return to his roots. He started his career working for Muppets creator Jim Henson in 1982. He was nominated for an Emmy in 1991 for his work on “The Muppets Celebrate Jim Henson,” a tribute show that aired in 1990 after Henson’s death.
If the project goes to series, Prady would juggle the Muppet Show along with his executive producer duties on the Big Bang Theory.
