Disney•Pixar’s ‘Inside Out’ to premiere at Cannes

Disney•Pixar’s “Inside Out” will make its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, which begins May 13.

“Inside Out” is set in the mind of an 11-year-old girl named Riley, where five Emotions are hard at work. It will be in theaters in the United States June 19.

The movie will not be in contention for any of the festival’s awards.

“We are overjoyed at being included in this year’s official selection at Cannes,” “Inside Out” director Pete Docter said in a statement. “With ‘Inside Out,’ we spent years imagining — and then building — never-before-seen settings and characters within the mind. It was an incredible, fun and exciting challenge, and now we can’t wait to share it with the world.”
This is not Pixar’s first star turn at Cannes. Another Docter-directed film, “Up,” became the first animated film to open the festival when it was screened on opening night in 2009.

“Inside Out” is the first of two Pixar releases scheduled for this year. It will be followed by “The Good Dinosaur,” which asks the question “What if dinosaurs never became extinct?” It will hit theaters Nov. 25.

Pixar also released a new trailer for “Inside Out” yesterday, which you can see below:
