Photos of how the Magic Kingdom at Disney World prepared for Hurricane Irma

Disney World is preparing Magic Kingdom for its two-day closing due to Hurricane Irma.

Hurricane Irma is now a massive Category 4 storm and will most likely slam into south Florida with that force. Forecasters predict the hurricane will head up the west coast of Florida. Early indications is the area around Disney World will receive anywhere from 7 to 15 inches of rain and winds reaching speeds of 50 to 60 mph with gusts up to 110 mph. Storm conditions would begin Saturday night with the worst conditions Sunday into Monday. This forecast will change as the path of the storm changes, so keep checking with the National Hurricane Center.

Disney World is closing all of its theme parks by 9 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017 and will open again on Tuesday, Sept. 12. In preparation for the hurricane, Disney has taken down all of decorative pumpkins that were placed along Main Street for the Halloween season all ready taking place.

In addition, the large pumpkins near the entrance to the park were also removed. Even during the day, the U.S. flag was never raised on the flagpole near the entrance. All of the Halloween decorations in the square near the flagpole have also been removed.

Some of the decorations along Main Street on lampposts have been removed and more will be removed. The scaffolding used around Main Street for refurbishments are now visible once Disney removed the coverings.

At Cinderella Castle, the Tinker Bell line was also removed. This is the line Tinker Bell flies down during fireworks.
