Animal Kingdom prepares for 20th anniversary celebration
Disney is starting to dress up Animal Kingdom park in preparation for the 20th-anniversary ceremony and celebration taking place on Earth Day, April 22, 2018.
The first new addition can be seen as you walk into the park, a special photo booth has been placed allowing guests to stand in the booth and have their photo taken surrounded by animals and a large 20 to signify the age of the park.
Around the hub area in front of the Tree of Life small banners have been placed on lamp posts with the number 20 and silhouettes of various animals.
The large addition has been a stage set up in front of the Tree of Life with a large 20 and the name of the park. The stage will be used for a special ceremony taking place Sunday, April 22 at 10:15 a.m. The ceremony will be streamed live on the Disney Parks Blog.
The anniversary will also mark the premiere of two new attractions. The first is the new “UP! A Great Bird Adventure,” which will feature Russell and Dug from Disney-Pixar’s “UP” and the Pandora Utility Suit that will have a person walking around at Pandora – The World of Avatar.
The park’s anniversary is part of the ‘Party For the Planet’ celebration that will stretch from April 22-May 5.
