Updated: Disney, Marvel, Star Wars movie release dates until 2022
Disney has updated its movie release schedule through 2022, including changing the dates of some movies and adding a few others. (This is updated as of Oct. 23, 2018.)
Disney has solidified its release dates at least through the middle of 2019. But there are a lot of movies in the future that are untitled.
A lot of what is coming out in the next 18 months from Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Lucasfilm are either sequels or live-action adaptations of popular animated films.
Here is the list:
The Nutcracker and the Four Realms – Nov. 2, 2018
This is a fantasy film, a live-action adaptation of E.T.A. Hoffmann’s The Nutcracker and the Mouse King and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s ballet The Nutcracker, about a young girl who finds a Nutcracker doll among the family’s gifts and is charged by her parents to watch over the doll. The film stars Keira Knightley, Mackenzie Foy, Helen Mirren, and Morgan Freeman.
Ralph Breaks the Internet – Nov. 21, 2018
This movie may have one of the funniest scenes ever this year. We were lucky enough to get sneak peek at D23 Expo 2017. This sequel takes place six years after the first film and centers on Ralph’s adventures in the Internet data space when a Wi-Fi router gets plugged into the arcade and he needs to find a replacement part to fix Sugar Rush. He and Vanellope von Schweetz enter the gaming words and to a hilarious scene – meeting the Disney Princesses.
Mary Poppins Returns – Dec. 19, 2018
This sequel to the 1964 film “Mary Poppins,” is set in is set in 1930s Depression-era London (the time period of the original novels) and is drawn PL Travers’ additional seven books. In the story, Michael (Ben Whishaw) and Jane (Emily Mortimer) are now grown up, with Michael, his three children and their housekeeper, Ellen (Julie Walters), living on Cherry Tree Lane. After Michael suffers a personal loss, the enigmatic Mary Poppins (Emily Blunt) re-enters the lives of the Banks family, and, along with the optimistic street lamplighter Jack (Lin-Manuel Miranda)

Captain Marvel – March 8, 2019
This is scheduled to be the 21s film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It focuses on Carol Danvers (played by Brie Larson) a U.S. Air Force pilot whose DNA is fused with that of an alien during an accident and give her special powers.
Dumbo – March 29, 2019
Disneynature’s Penguins – April 19, 2019
Avengers 4 – April 20, 2019
The next Avengers movie is intended to be a sequel to Avengers: Infinity War, no specifics have been announced.
Aladdin – May 24, 2019
Guy Ritchie is directing this live-action adaptation of the 1992 animated film.
Toy Story 4 – June 21, 2019
This fourth film is being touted as a standalone sequel instead of a straight continuation of Toy Story Story 3. The film is set to be directed by Josh Cooley.
The Lion King – July 19, 2019
The remake of the 1994 animated classic is being directed by Jon Favreau and has an all-star cast of Donald Glover, Beyoncé, James Earl Jones, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Billy Eichner, Seth Rogen, John Oliver, John Kani, Alfre Woodard, Eric Andre, Florence Kasumba, Keegan-Michael Key, JD McCrary and Shahadi Wright Joseph.
Artemis Fowl – August 9, 2019
This movie, being directed by Kenneth Branagh is a fantasy adventure in which Artemis Fowl the second, a young Irish criminal mastermind, kidnaps the fairy LEPrecon officer Holly Short for ransom to fund rescuing his father. Once a transaction is made, they go on a hunt for the evil pixie Opal Koboi and rush to save Artemis Fowl senior from the Arctic.
Frozen 2 – November 27, 2019
The long-awaited sequel to 2013 animated movie is scheduled for release.
Star Wars Episode IX – December 20, 2019
The last film in the latest Star Wars trilogy is scheduled for release
