Weather advisory for 2018 Disney Princess Half-Marathon weekend

Race organizers for the 2018 Disney Princess Half-Marathon Weekend are alerting runners that this weekend’s weather will be warmer than usual.

The announcement from runDisney states the areas is “anticipated to experience warmer weather and higher humidity than usual during this time of year. Those participating in the Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend race events should plan accordingly for their race. ”

The forecast so far for 5:30 a.m. Friday for the 5K race is 66 degrees and clear, according to the Weather Channel.

Saturday at 5:30 a.m, for the 10 K race, the temperature is 65 degrees and clear. At the Sunday half marathon start at 5:30 a.m., temperatures are expected to be 65 degrees and climbing to 74 degrees by 10 a.m. It will be mostly sunny in the morning so expect temperatures to feel a little warmer.

runDisney is providing the following tips :

  • Closely monitor your pace and do not overextend yourself. This may not be the event to attempt your personal best.
  • Stay well hydrated prior to the race and maintain fluid status with alternating water and electrolyte-based hydration options throughout your race and the entire race weekend.
  • Slow down and ask for assistance at any signs of heat illness, including dizziness, light-headedness or nausea. Heed these warnings seriously.
  • As a reminder, all medical stations will have the appropriate flag color displayed according to existing heat conditions.
