Photos: New tiger cubs now on display at Animal Kingdom

The fourth-month old Sumatran tiger cubs at Animal Kingdom in Disney World can now be seen by guests along the Maharajah Jungle Trek.

These are the first tiger cubs to be born at the park and the brother and sister can now be seen frolicking with their mother Sohni.

Today (Dec. 13, 2017) is the first day the cubs, Anala and Jeda, were out running, hiding and pouncing on their mother. At times there were more staff members than guests at the overlooks, just to monitor the pair.  After being introduced to the habitat and going through a swimming test, the two will be coming out in the mornings for the rest of this week, the cast members said.

The concern is not to over stimulate the cubs, so about mid-day they will be taken out of the habitat with their mother.

The endangered Sumatran tiger cubs were born in August. The name of the male cub, Jeda, means “pause” in Malay. This is another fun way to tell the two apart. When you see them up close, Jeda has markings on his face which look like paws. The female cub’s name Anala, means “fiery” or “sizzling” in Hindi.

Here’s a look at the first day out and about:
