Disney reveals medals to be given out at 25th anniversary of Disney World Marathon

Disney World has unveiled the medals it will be handing out for the 25th anniversary of the Walt Disney World Marathon.


The weekend Jan. 3-7, 2018 features six races and three challenges. Different characters host each of the races.

This year’s finisher medals commemorate the silver anniversary with colorful designs and of course, some solver sparkle.

Not only are there races for adults, but there are races for kids, which will take place at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.

On Jan. 5 and Jan. 6 the races for kids include a Diaper Dash crawling for those would be runners 12 months old and younger.

Then there is a 100m dash for 1 to 4-years-old.

The 4 to 8-years-old can compete in the 200m dash.

And the 1 mile run is open to all children 13 years old and under.

Here’s a look at the events and the medals:

The Walt Disney World 5K, hosted by Pluto, is a run through Epcot on Jan. 4. The medal features Mickey Mouse and Pluto.

The 10K run is on Jan. 5 and is another run through Epcot. This time Minnie Mouse hosts the event and the medal is her and Mickey. The lanyard is fashioned with Minnie’s iconic polka dots.

The Walt Disney Half Marathon is held on Jan. 6 and is a run through the Magic Kingdom and Epcot. The event it hosted by Donald Duck. This year’s medal features Donald and Mickey Mouse.

The 26.2 mile Walt Disney World Marathon takes place on Jan. 7 and is run through all four Disney World theme parks and the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. Mickey Mouse is the host and the medal this year bring on the silver for the silver anniversary.

Runners can also sign up for Goofy’s Race and a Half Challenge by completing both the Half Marathon and full Marathon or the Dopey Challenge by completing the 5K, 10K, Half Marathon and full Marathon.

This is the 5th anniversary of the Dopey Challenge.

There is also the Castaway Cay 5K run for those who want to run the races and then take a Disney Cruise. On Monday, when Marathon Weekend is over you set sail on board the Disney Dream for a 4-night Bahamian Cruise from Port Canaveral. You’ll sail to Disney Castaway Cay for your 5K run and then you can relax.
