About 14 percent of the park’s attractions will be closed either permanently or temporarily. The area being impacted is about 25 percent of the theme park.
In addition, at the end of the day Jan. 10, Disneyland Railroad, Fantasmic!, Mark Twain Riverboat and Sailing Ship Columbia, Pirate’s Lair on Tom Sawyer Island and the Davy Crockett Explorer Canoes will close temporarily so the expansion can take place.
Disney has not said how long the temporary closures will take place, there has been some speculation that it could be up to a year.
The 14-acre Star Wars land is supposed to be an immersive experience and take guests into a new Star Wars planet. There will be two major rides, one that puts guests behind the controls of the Millennium Falcon and another that puts guests in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance, Disney has previously announced.
