New Star Wars events coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios soon

To help fill the long, bleak years of construction that loom before Hollywood Studios has a bona fide Star Wars land, Disney is rolling out a number of new experiences evoking that galaxy far, far away.
The headline event is a “nighttime spectacular” the Disney Parks Blog says is “so elaborate it’s set to make Hollywood Studios history.” In addition, Star Wars characters will be grabbing the spotlight at Center Stage.
Here’s a look at what’s coming and when:
Starting April 4: A new show, “Star Wars: A Galaxy Far, Far Away,” takes over Center Stage. The show will feature appearances from Kylo Ren, Chewbacca, Darth Vader and Darth Maul. (Seems like the good guys are a little outnumbered, no?) And several times a day, Captail Phasma will lead a platoon of First Order stormtroopers from the Launch Bay to Center Stage.
This summer: A new nightly fireworks show “Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular” promises to be the “most elaborate fireworks display to take place in the history of Disney’s Hollywood Studios.” The Disney Parks Blog describes it this way: “The show will combine fireworks, pyrotechnics, special effects and video projections that will turn the nearby Chinese Theater and other buildings into the twin suns of Tatooine, a field of battle droids, the trench of the Death Star, Starkiller Base and other Star Wars destinations. The show will be punctuated with a tower of fire and spotlight beams, creating massive lightsabers in the sky.” The current Star Wars-themed fireworks show is scheduled to continue until the middle of August, which suggests the new show may debut around Aug. 18.
