Disney Cruise Line is adding two new ships to its fleet.
The new ships will be just slightly larger than the biggest ships currently in the fleet and are expected to set sail in 2021 and 2023.
Names and itineraries for the ships have not been announced.
“We pride ourselves on the unforgettable vacation experiences we deliver to our guests each and every day, and the expansion of our Disney fleet will allow us to create even more magical memories for families at sea and in incredible cruise destinations around the world,” Robert A. Iger, Disney’s chairman and chief executive, said in the announcement.
Disney currently has four ships in its fleet: the Magic and the Wonder, each of which can carry up to 2,400 passengers; and the newer Dream and Fantasy, each of which has a passenger capacity of 4,000.
The new ships will be slightly larger than the Dream and the Fantasy in terms of tonnage, but will have about the same passenger capacity, with 1,250 state rooms each.
