runDisney launching a virtual running short series starting May 15

You can now participate in a runDisney event without heading to a Disney theme park.

runDisney has created a Virtual Running Short Series from May 15 to June 30, 2016 that will benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

The virtual run series encourages people to run, walk, jog, take a stroll through a neighborhood or complete the race on a treadmill, according to the runDisney site.

Walk, jog, take a stroll through the neighborhood, or run your race on a treadmill.

Participants will receive finisher medals for each 5K completed plus a challenge medal for finishing all three virtual 5Ks. The races and medals are inspired by Mickey Mouse. Each medal will spotlight one of Mickey’s iconic staples – yellow shoes, red pants and white gloves. Those who complete all three virtual runs will earn a special medal.

runDisney is encouraging everyone to share the their experience by using the hashtag #runDisneyShorts.

The cost for individual races is $39 each or $142 for all three races. Registration can be done at the runDisney site.

runDisney holds nine events annually at Disneyland, Disneyland Paris and Walt Disney World.
