Birth at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge Marks 20 Year Milestone
The savanna at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge will soon have a tiny new resident, marking a historic achievement for the resort’s animal care team.
Winnie, one of the resident Ankole cattle, has given birth to a healthy female calf. The arrival is a significant milestone for the site, representing the first Ankole calf born at Disney World in more than two decades.
According to Disney, both the mother and the newborn are in excellent health. To ensure a smooth transition, the pair is currently spending time bonding in a “behind-the-scenes” area. This private time allows the calf to grow stronger and acclimate to her mother before they both join the rest of the herd on the public savanna.

Ankole cattle are famous for their massive, sweeping horns, which can span several feet. While the new calf is starting small, she will eventually become a focal point for guests staying at the Lodge.
Visitors can expect to see the mother and daughter roaming the savanna in the coming weeks as they are cleared for their public debut.
