Pool closures coming to Beach Club and Old Key West
Guests planning a stay at Disney’s Beach Club Resort or Disney’s Old Key West Resort in early 2026 may need to adjust their swimming itineraries.
Disney has officially announced that several aquatic amenities will undergo routine maintenance during the first quarter of the year, ensuring these popular destinations remain in top-tier condition for the summer rush.
Routine maintenance is a staple of the “off-season” months in Orlando when temperatures are traditionally cooler. While these closures may be a minor inconvenience for those who prefer the quieter “leisure” pools, the main feature pools at both resorts will continue to offer the slides and whirlpools that families expect.
Beginning in mid-January, the Tidal leisure pool at Disney’s Beach Club Resort will be walled off for a refresh. The project is expected to last through early May 2026, making it a significant multi-month renovation.
While guests staying in nearby rooms may hear or see construction crews during daylight hours, the resort’s “crown jewel” remains untouched. Stormalong Bay, the sprawling three-acre sand-bottomed pool complex shared with the Yacht Club, will remain fully operational throughout the period.
At Disney’s Old Key West Resort, a more concentrated series of closures will take place. Starting in early January, the Turtle Pond Pool area will be closed for a brief but intensive month of work, with a projected reopening in early February.
The closure isn’t limited to just the water; the following amenities in the Turtle Pond section will be unavailable:
- The Turtle Pond Pool and Spa
- The BBQ Pavilion
- The neighborhood playground
To accommodate guests, Disney will keep three other swimming locations open throughout the resort: the Sandcastle Pool (the resort’s main hub), the South Point Pool, and the Miller’s Road Pool.
