Photo Update: Tropical Americas Construction Goes Vertical at Animal Kingdom
The transformation of DinoLand U.S.A. into the highly anticipated Tropical Americas is moving at a rapid pace. New aerial photography from @bioreconstruct has revealed the first major vertical milestones, with a massive new ride show building now clearly visible from the air. This 11-acre site is quickly evolving into the vibrant, lived-in village of Pueblo Esperanza.
The aerial shots reveal the sprawling footprint of what will become a lush, lived-in town. At the center, guests will find a large fountain where villagers gather to share stories, surrounded by an open-air market. The area will contain a large hacienda, which Disney has confirmed will be one of the largest quick-service restaurants in all of Disney World.
The latest photos provide a fascinating overview of the Encanto attraction’s show building.

The first-ever “Encanto”-themed attraction will bring casita to life as guests join the beloved Madrigal family on the day Antonio receives his special gift, the ability to communicate with animals. Guests will feel like part of the family Madrigal as they join the celebration and explore their magical home like never before.
The area will also include:
- The Wood-Carved Carousel: This attraction will feature intricate wood carvings of animals from beloved Disney stories, all “crafted” by a resident of Esperanza.
- A New Generation of Play: Disney has officially confirmed a new kids’ play area.

On Feb. 2, the DINOSAUR attraction will close, and work will begin to transform the ride vehicle and the ride building into an all-new adventure centered on Indiana Jones. Guests will venture inside a Mayan temple where Indy’s discovered a new place to explore. Amid rumors of a mythical creature living deep within the temple, this thrilling new story will take guests along for the ride with the famed archaeologist.
The land is scheduled to open sometime in 2027.
