Disney World updates Trader Sam’s hours, now opening in the morning
Disney World has significantly adjusted the operating hours for the popular Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto at the Polynesian Village Resort, moving its daily opening time four hours earlier, from the afternoon to 11 a.m.
The update was recently implemented and is now in effect through the end of the currently posted operating schedule, which extends through mid-February.
The change allows guests to access the highly-themed tiki bar much sooner than the previous opening time of 3 p.m. (and 4 p.m. when the location first debuted). Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto will maintain its closing time of 12 a.m. (midnight), effectively widening the window for guests seeking the immersive experience and handcrafted cocktails. The bar will remain for those 21 and over after 8 p.m.
Located steps away from the lobby of the Polynesian Village Resort, the Traders Sam’s is known for its legendary libations—such as the Polynesian Pearl and HippopotoMai-Tai—and the collectible, Disney-exclusive tiki mugs that accompany certain drink orders.
The bar’s immediate popularity often results in long wait times. The earlier 11 a.m. start is expected to offer guests a better opportunity to secure seating at the frequently full location.
