Double Feature Returns: Disney Sets Reopening Date for Palais du Cinéma at EPCOT
Disney has confirmed that the Palais du Cinéma at EPCOT’s France Pavilion will officially end its hiatus next month, with both Impressions de France and the Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along expected to return to the screen on May 10.
The entire theater has been closed for refurbishment since Feb. 22. This nearly three-month project has temporarily paused the pavilion’s unique cinematic offerings, but fans of both the classic travelogue and the animated sing-along only have a few weeks left to wait before the doors swing open once more.
While Disney has not released specific details regarding the work being done inside the Palais du Cinéma, industry standards for a closure of this length suggest that guests can expect a refreshed viewing experience. Likely upgrades include:
- Enhanced Projection: Potential shifts to state-of-the-art projection systems to sharpen the visual quality of both films.
- Infrastructure Repairs: Maintenance on theater seating and flooring.
- System Overhauls: General technical improvements to ensure the rotating schedule runs seamlessly.
Show Times
- Impressions de France: A staple of the park since its grand opening in 1982, the 18-minute film remains a fan favorite for its breathtaking views of French architecture and its soaring classical score. The show times for this will be on from 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. to 8:45 p.m.
- Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along: A 2020 addition that brought a new level of interactivity to the theater, allowing guests to belt out hits from the beloved animated classic. The show times will be from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
