Grand reveal: Sneak peek at the Grand Floridian’s new lobby
An artist’s concept reveals Disney’s plans for the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa’s lobby renovation, completing a multi-year project that has already enhanced guest rooms and dining experiences.
The renovated lobby will showcase Victorian-inspired elegance: intricate carpeting with floral scrollwork, rich furnishings accented with brass, and cozy fabrics, all punctuated by playful nods to Florida’s natural charm.
It will also contain something new – a lobby bar inspired by the lobby’s iconic birdcage. The bar will pay tribute to the resort’s Victorian roots with intricate woodwork, stained glass, and brass accents and stained glass and murals throughout the atrium. The bar will be located opposite the Victorian cage-style elevator.
The surrounding lobby, staircase and front desk will be refreshed with a mix of botanical accents and inviting colors to create an airy, garden-like atmosphere.
The renovation is expected to take place in phases throughout the remainder of the year. Work is expected to begin on Monday, April 14.
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is among the more than 25 Disney Resort hotels contributing to the nearly 29,000 guest rooms on Walt Disney World property.
The resort reflects the grandeur of the late 19th and early 20th-century Florida beach resorts. The exterior is inspired by Mount Washington Resort in Bretton Woods, New Hampshire, and Hotel del Coronado in Coronado, California, and the former Belleview-Biltmore Hotel in Belleair, Florida.
