DINOSAUR will close in 2026 at Disney’s Animal Kingdom
If you want that one last ride on DINOSAUR at Disney’s Animal Kingdom you’ll have the entire 2025 to ride it before it closes down to become an Indiana Jones attraction, Disney announced.
To make way for the new Tropical Americas land Dino land is going away, but DINOSAUR will remain open for 2025.
The new Tropical Americas land was introduced at Destination D23 and will have new experiences inspired by “Encanto” and a new Indiana Jones adventure.
DINOSAUR opened on April 22, 1998 and is one of the original rides to open at Animal Kingdom. Originally called Countdown to Extinction the name was changed to Dinosaur in 2000 to promote it the new Disney film named “The Good Dinosaur.”
The enhanced motion vehicle ride system used for the attraction at Animal Kingdom was created and is for the Indiana Jones Adventure at Disneyland when it opened in 1995, so retheming DINOSAUR should not be that difficult since tracks are already in place.
The new Indiana Jones attraction at Animal Kingdom is supposed to involve Indiana Jones hunting a mythical creature in a Mayan temple.
DinoLand will be closing in phases. The first phase begins on Jan. 12, 2025 when TriceraTop Spin, Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures close.
