Photos: ‘Dream Lights’ live on at gingerbread Contemporary display
If you are like me and missing the Cinderella Castle Dream Lights that once lit up the castle at Magic Kingdom, fear not the new gingerbread display at the Contemporary Resort might bring you some satisfaction.
The gingerbread Castle Display, found on the fourth floor of the resort, has a new overlay inspired but the Cinderella Castle Dream Lights – which was 32,000 square feet of fishing net supporting 200,000 LED lights making the castle look like its covered in ice.
The Castle Display stands over 17 feet 6-inches tall and 25 feet 4-inches wide. It’s made with 613 pounds of sugar, 1,013 pounds of flour, 113 pounds of gingerbread spice, 51 pounds of chocolate and over 4,000 castle gingerbread bricks.
The castle took 30 days to construct and contains 13 hidden Mickeys and one 5-legged goat.

25th Anniversary Gingerbread House at Grand Floridian: This iconic house is celebrating a sugary milestone starting Nov. 6. With an 88-pound white chocolate Santa, dazzling details, and over 10,000 gingerbread pieces, it’s a true feast for the senses. See if you can find the 25 hidden Mickeys. There will also be a limited-edition collection of 25th anniversary merchandise including a pin, ornament, cookie jar, magnet, tumbler, t-shirt, and more available for purchase to commemorate your holiday memories.
- Deli Gingerbread House at BoardWalk Inn: Staring Nov. 12, Disney’s BoardWalk Inn plays host to a miniature gingerbread version of its iconic and fan-favorite spots from the BoardWalk itself. The house is beautifully created with details that look just like the seaside escape, but just in a smaller and sweet form. The BoardWalk Deli itself is home to none other than the BoardWalk Inn Bakery team, who brings this display to life. This year, there’s also a limited-edition pin, cookie jar, and holiday ornament available for purchase to bring the gingerbread magic home with you.
- Holiday Carousel at Beach Club: For 24 years, Disney’s Beach Club Resort has continued their cherished tradition with the life-sized Holiday Carousel. Did we mention it actually spins? Each holiday season, the horses are decorated to a different theme and this year, the characters from “Mickey’s Christmas Carol” will be brought to life by the talented Yacht and Beach Bakery. No specific date has been announced on when it will be on display.
- Life-Sized Baby Giraffe and Zebra at Animal Kingdom Lodge: Back for its fourth year, this adorable duo of Ginger and Debra will greet you in the lobby starting Nov. 24. These nearly 7-foot-tall displays are made with gingerbread, sugar dough, and modeling chocolate. Don’t miss the limited-edition pin, cookie jar, and ornament inspired by them debuting for the first time this year.
- EPCOT’s Gingerbread Spaceship Earth: Blast off into a sugary adventure with this brand new display starting Nov. 29. Imagine Spaceship Earth, but made entirely of gingerbread. This 8-foot-tall marvel took over 160 hours to create and will even light up and dances to music. Keep your eyes peeled for 11 hidden Mickeys representing the World Showcase countries.
