Hurricane Milton: Disney World suspends change, cancellation charges

In light of Hurricane Milton on its way toward Florida where it will come as a major hurricane, Walt Disney World has announced that guests with hotel reservations will be able to change or cancel their vacation through Oct. 12 without Disney-imposed cancellation fees. This is due to the potential impact of Hurricane Milton on Disney World.

Disney World is currently operating under normal conditions and is monitoring the path of the projected storm, Hurricane Milton.

At this point Disney has closed all reservations for the next few days. This is normal for Disney World. They close open rooms to make sure they have enough room for Cast Members who will need to stay on property to assist at the resorts and for those who need to stay to keep check on the parks if Disney decides to close the parks because of Hurricane Milton.

At this point, if you were planning a vacation and booked directly with Disney Destinations, LLC or The Walt Disney Travel Company, change and cancellation fees have been waived. Here are the specifics:

  • Due to potential weather impacts to guest travel plans, change and cancellation fees imposed by Disney will be waived for check-in dates of Sunday, 10/6 – Saturday, 10/12.
  • Most room-only and vacation packages can be modified, or canceled online, including changes to travel dates, without fees. Packages including air transportation or other services provided by third parties, or those with travel protection, cannot be modified or canceled online.
