560 Baggage Airline Guests Services laid off at Walt Disney World

The company that provides remote airline check-in, luggage and assorting parking and travel management services across Walt Disney World has laid off 560 employees, according to a WARN notice to the state of Florida.

“We expected the layoffs to be temporary and last less than six months. Since that time, however, the duration and severity of the COVID-19 pandemic, including its impact on the travel business has required us to reassess our outlook,” SP+ Corporation, which operates Baggage Airlines Guests Services, writes.

The company believed the layoffs would be temporary, but now is making the layoffs permanent “and the employees who worked at the below-reference Lake Buena Vista region locations will be separated from Bags effective today,” the company stated.

The locations listed are all of the Walt Disney World resort locations. Resort Airline Check-In Service is no longer available at any Disney resort. While self-parking available, valet service service is temporarily unavailable, with the exception of Guests with disabilities who may require parking assistance.

Luggage assistance is still available at the front of the Disney Resort hotel, including luggage storage and/or transport to the room.
