What’s open, closed happening at Disney World in September 2024
Walt Disney World goes through a delightful transition in September 2024, where the summer’s vibrant energy begins to give way to the enchanting allure of fall. Now, the weather will still feel like hot and balmy August but the atmosphere takes on a distinct seasonal charm.
It’s important to note that certain attractions or areas may be closed for refurbishment or seasonal adjustments during September. To ensure a seamless and enjoyable visit, it’s recommended to check the latest updates on Walt Disney World’s official website or mobile app.
As the month unfolds, guests can also anticipate the arrival of new and exciting offerings. From limited-time events and seasonal decorations to the introduction of innovative attractions, September promises to be a month filled with surprises and unforgettable memories.
Here’s a complete list of everything open, closed and what’s coming to Disney World in September 2024.
Disney World September 2024
- Disney After Hours 2025 Tickets Available – Tickets go on sale for the various Disney After Hours events for guests staying at select Walt Disney World Resort hotels, Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotels, and Shades of Green on Sept. 4. For all other guests, tickets will go on sale Sept 10.
- Hispanic & Latin American Heritage Month: Sept. 15- Oct. 15 – Guests can join the celebration with six new and returning experiences. Enjoy festive music, delicious food, and more. The details are here.
Magic Kingdom
- Jungle Cruise: Closed for refurbishment – The attraction is closed for refurbishment and is scheduled to reopen on Oct. 18.
- La Princesa de Cristal – Caribbean Plaza: Closed for refurbishment – This shopping area is getting a makeover. No reopen time has been announced.
- Festival of Fantasy Parade: Changing times – The Festival of Fantasy Parade will be shifting from 3 p.m. to 2 p.m. starting on Aug. 4 and will remain at that time through the month of August.
- Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party begins – Starting Aug. 9, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party returns on select nights through Oct. 31. This is a separately ticketed event. For those without tickets, its means that the Magic Kingdom will close at 6 p.m.
Hollywood Studios
- The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure – Closed for refurbishment. Opening in the Fall – The reimagined theatrical production is inspired by the Walt Disney Animation Studios classic “The Little Mermaid” and will be presented in the newly refreshed Animation Courtyard theater. Guests will experience a sea of sensations through the magic of breathtaking set pieces, cutting-edge effects, and a bold design that brings Ariel’s world to life. They will also be able to join in the fin-flipping fun with musical numbers like “Part of Your World,” “Poor Unfortunate Souls” and other music from the beloved Disney animated classic.
Animal Kingdom

EPCOT
- EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival – The 2024 EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival is taking place through Nov. 23 and each night throughout the month are bands that are part of the Eat to the Beat Concert series. This is the lineup.
- Sept. 1-2 – Sugar Ray
- Sept. 3-5 – Finesse
- Sept. 6-7 – Hoobastank
- Sept. 8-9 – Yellowcard
- Sept. 10-12 – Hooligans
- Sept. 13-14 – Tiffany
- Sept. 15-16 – MercyMe

- Test Track – Closed for an extended refurbishment – Test Track closed on June 16 for an extensive reimagining. Details on when the revamped ride will return remain shrouded in mystery. Imagineers along with teams from Chevrolet are reaching back into history for inspiration – from the original World of Motion – and bringing that spirit of optimism to the next iteration of the attraction.
- 40th anniversary of Morocco Pavilion – On Sept. 7, 1984, the Morocco Pavilion opened.
Disney Springs
- Disney Dreams ends – Sept. 2: This weekend marks the final opportunity to experience “Disney Dreams That Soar,” the groundbreaking nighttime drone show at performance on Sept. 2.
- Disney’s Candy Cauldron: Closed for refurbishment – This candy shop is closed. No reopening date has been announced.
- Special Halloween food becomes available – Sept. 9 – Special Halloween-themed foods all around Disney Springs will star becoming available on Sept. 9, incuding new items like Madame Leota Petit Cake at Amorette’s Patisserie or the Creepy Mudslide at Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar. And returning favorites such as Haunted Mansion Portrait Bars at The Ganachery.
Blizzard Beach
- Closed for refurbishment – Reopening on Nov. 4 – The park is closed for annual refurbishment and will reopen when Typhoon Lagoon closes on Nov. 4.
Disney Resorts
- Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort – Room refurbishment work will take place from September 2024 to September 2025.
- Beach Club Resort – Stormalong Bay and Shipwreck Pool at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts will undergo routine maintenance from January 2025 to June 2025.
- BoardWalk Inn and Villas – Disney’s BoardWalk Inn and Disney’s BoardWalk Villas are being refurbished with new offerings; plus, updates to Guest rooms, lobby and more. While most Resort hotel amenities will remain available, you may be able to see and hear construction during daytime hours. Additionally, please allow for additional travel time.
- Polynesian Village Resort – Now through Fall 2024, work will take place to paint the exterior of buildings throughout Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort & Bungalows, with Guest room balconies also being affected. Guests may see and hear painting work during daytime hours, typically from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
- Port Orleans – French Quarter – Now through November 2024, some guest rooms at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter will be under refurbishment. Guests may see or hear construction work during daytime hours. Most Resort hotel amenities will remain available.
- Pop Century Resort – From now through the end of September, the Everything POP Food Court will be under refurbishment. During this time, we ask that guests please use mobile order in the My Disney Experience app to order food and drinks. Guests should please be prepared to utilize alternate entrances to the food court. Dining room seating may be limited.
