Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party starts Aug. 9 and the EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival begins at the end of the month. Here’s a complete list of everything open, closed and what’s coming to Disney World in August 2024.
Disney World
- Disney Princess Week – Disney World is set to enchant guests with a royal culinary experience this August in celebration of World Princess Week. While the official event runs from Aug. 25 to 31, Disney Parks will be serving up princess-inspired delights throughout the entire month.
- Bay Lake Tower celebrates 15th anniversary – This DVC resort opened Aug. 4, 2009 next to the Contemporary Resort.
- Disney Skyliner celebrates 5th anniversary – The gondola transportation system that links Hollywood Studios, EPCOT, Art of Animation, Caribbean Beach, Pop Century and Riviera resorts opened on Aug 29, 2019.
Magic Kingdom
- Peter Pan’s Flight: Closed for refurbishment – This ride in Fantasyland will close for refurbishment and is expected to reopen on Aug. 21.
- Jungle Cruise: Closing for refurbishment – Beginning Aug. 26, Jungle Cruise will temporarily close for refurbishment. The last day it will operate before the refurbishment is Aug. 25. This means that for the majority of the Halloween season at Disney World, which takes place Aug. 9 through Oct. 31, the attraction will not be available. Disney has said it will reopen sometime during the Christmas holiday season.
- Festival of Fantasy Parade: Changing times – The Festival of Fantasy Parade will be shifting from 3 p.m. to 2 p.m. starting on Aug. 4 and will remain at that time through the month of August.
- Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party begins – Starting Aug. 9, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party returns on select nights through Oct. 31. This is a separately ticketed event. For those without tickets, its means that the Magic Kingdom will close at 6 p.m.
Hollywood Studios
- The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure – Closed for refurbishment. Opening in the Fall – The reimagined theatrical production is inspired by the Walt Disney Animation Studios classic “The Little Mermaid” and will be presented in the newly refreshed Animation Courtyard theater. Guests will experience a sea of sensations through the magic of breathtaking set pieces, cutting-edge effects, and a bold design that brings Ariel’s world to life. They will also be able to join in the fin-flipping fun with musical numbers like “Part of Your World,” “Poor Unfortunate Souls” and other music from the beloved Disney animated classic.
- The Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular! celebrates 35th anniversary – On Aug. 25, 1989 this attraction opened.
- Aug. 29: Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge celebrates 5th anniversary – The new land opened on Aug. 29, 2019.
Animal Kingdom
- No closures reported.
EPCOT
- EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival – Begins on Aug. 29. – The 2024 EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival is set to usher in a notable shift, reverting to its pre-pandemic duration of 76 days. Launching on Aug. 29 it will run through Nov. 23.
- Test Track – Closed for an extended refurbishment – Test Track closed on June 16 for an extensive reimagining. Details on when the revamped ride will return remain shrouded in mystery. Imagineers along with teams from Chevrolet are reaching back into history for inspiration – from the original World of Motion – and bringing that spirit of optimism to the next iteration of the attraction.
Disney Springs
Flavors of Florida is making a delicious comeback at Disney Springs from July 1 to Aug. 11, 2024. Over 40 locations across Disney Springs will be serving up a mouthwatering summer menu bursting with citrusy vibes. Indulge in sweet treats like the Orange Slushie from Amorette’s Patisserie or the Key Lime Pie Marshmallowsfrom Wondermade. Craving something savory? The Pork Belly Burnt End Tacos at City Works Eatery & Pour House are calling your name! Also, don’t forget about the drone show “Dreams that Soar” taking place twice nightly through Sept. 2. Blizzard Beach
- Closed for refurbishment.
Disney Resorts
- Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort – Room refurbishment work will take place from September 2024 to September 2025.
- Beach Club Resort – Stormalong Bay and Shipwreck Pool at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts will undergo routine maintenance from January 2025 to June 2025.
- BoardWalk Inn and Villas – Disney’s BoardWalk Inn and Disney’s BoardWalk Villas are being refurbished with new offerings; plus, updates to Guest rooms, lobby and more. While most Resort hotel amenities will remain available, you may be able to see and hear construction during daytime hours. Additionally, please allow for additional travel time.
- Polynesian Village Resort – Now through Fall 2024, work will take place to paint the exterior of buildings throughout Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort & Bungalows, with Guest room balconies also being affected. Guests may see and hear painting work during daytime hours, typically from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
- Port Orleans – French Quarter – Now through November 2024, some guest rooms at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter will be under refurbishment. Guests may see or hear construction work during daytime hours. Most Resort hotel amenities will remain available.
- Pop Century Resort – From now through the end of September, the Everything POP Food Court will be under refurbishment. During this time, we ask that guests please use mobile order in the My Disney Experience app to order food and drinks. Guests should please be prepared to utilize alternate entrances to the food court. Dining room seating may be limited.
