Jungle Cruise closing for extended refurbishment at Disney World

The Jungle Cruise at Magic Kingdom will close for refurbishment starting at the end of August with no reopening date yet announced by Disney World.

The last day of operation will be August 25. The ride will be closed starting Monday, August 26.

Previously Disney World said that the Jungle Cruise will turn into the annual Jingle Cruise overlay during the holiday season. The attraction was previously listed as being available during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. But at this point the attraction was removed from both the Halloween Party and Christmas Party lists.

Following the news that the Jungle Cruise will be closed starting August 27th at Magic Kingdom, Walt Disney World has updated its website to remove the attraction from the upcoming seasonal event guides.

This could change, depending on how long the refurbishment will last.

The Jungle Cruise at Magic Disney World’s Magic Kingdom is more than just a boat ride; it’s a timeless experience steeped in Disney history. Imagineered and overseen by Walt Disney himself, the Jungle Cruise opened its rivers in 1972, becoming one of the park’s original attractions. Guests embark on a humorous expedition through simulated jungle waterways in Asia, Africa, and South America, encountering a menagerie of animatronic animals and the witty (and often groan-worthy) commentary of their skipper guides.

This iconic attraction has become a beloved tradition for generations of Disney park goers. From the iconic backside of water and the iconic skipper jokes, to the iconic exploration of various “rivers of the world,” the Jungle Cruise offers a nostalgic adventure filled with laughter and exploration. While the attraction may be undergoing refurbishment, the memories and anticipation for its return make it a cherished part of the Magic Kingdom experience.

In 2021, the Jungle Cruise went through a major refurbishment with changes to the storyline.
