Photo, Video: Meet the newest stork at Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Strolling through Disney’s Animal Kingdom often unfolds as an adventure laden with delightful surprises, akin to stumbling upon a 17-day-old stork amidst its captivating environs.
Within the park’s sprawling expanse, one encounters an array of habitats meticulously crafted for an eclectic mix of creatures, alongside whimsically tousled displays invoking the prehistoric era.
Outside the imposing facade of the Dinosaur attraction, visitors are greeted not only by the thrill of impending adventure but also by the enchanting ambiance echoing the primeval past. In the corner of enclosure and near the front is the large nest of the Abdim’s stork and inside is a 17-day stork is stretching and being watched over by mom.
Amdim’s storks are known as “grasshopper birds” because they are frequently seen on top of termite mounds feasting on the swarming insects.
The flocks migrate annually from southern Africa up to central Africa and are known in native folklore of Africa as “rain-bringers.” According to Disney, this superstition has helped to protect the birds in a region where rain is critical for human survival.
There are a number of babies being born around the theme park as Spring arrives. When visiting look for baby Cora, the elephant on Kilimanjaro Safari’s as well as the baby tamarin monkey.
