Special weathervane added to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Magic Kingdom

A new crafted weathervane by Louisiana’s master blacksmith, Darryl Reeves, has been added to the Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Magic Kingdom.

What distinguishes Princess Tiana’s weathervane is its creation using age-old techniques, infused with a subtle African flair.

According to Disney: In the vibrant city of New Orleans, the presence of Louisiana’s master blacksmith, Darryl Reeves metalwork is ubiquitous, with his legacy as a “3rd generation master blacksmith and Vietnam Veteran evident every few blocks. Whether adorning historic wrought iron fences or creating intricately designed custom pieces, his artistic imprint extends not only across the city but also around the globe. With over 50 years devoted to his craft and community, it’s no surprise we turned to Darryl for the creation of the weathervane, a standout feature in Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.

“Stepping into Darryl’s workshop in the historic Seventh Ward of New Orleans, one can feel the warmth radiating from the numerous furnaces employed in the creation of his shop’s masterpieces. The profound artistry and intricate craftsmanship showcased by Darryl and his apprentices are apparent in the myriad works adorning his gallery.”

“I take metal and mold it into anything I envision,” he said. “To have the freedom to design and fabricate the weathervane for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is truly an honor.”
