Road closures around Disney World for 2024 Marathon weekend

Several road closures will occur around Walt Disney World during this weekend’s Walt Disney World Marathon. So, if you are planning to head to the parks on Jan. 6 and Jan. 7 take note that it might be difficult to drive to the parks during the morning.

The race weekend is from Jan. 3 through Jan. 7, 2024, with a 5K, 10K half-marathon and marathon events. In addition, a Health & Fitness Expo will take place Jan. 3 through Jan. 6 at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.

10K Road Closures for Jan. 5

Small road closures will take place during the 10K on Jan. 5.

Half Marathon Road Closures for Jan. 6

About 19 roads will be impacted on Jan 6 during the Half Marathon event that takes runners through the Magic Kingdom and EPCOT.

Marathon Road Closures for Jan. 7

During the signature marathon event on Jan. 7, 26 roadways will be impacted as the race course expands taking runners through all four theme parks and past the entrance to Blizzard Beach. Runners will get the opportunity to run near three of the four park icons. They will run through Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom and near the Hollywood Tower Hotel at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Spaceship Earth in EPCOT. The course does not take them near the Tree of Life, but past Expedition Everest at Animal Kingdom.
