From character encounters and dance parties to parades and nighttime spectaculars, there are over a dozen things to look forward to at Disneyland Resort, including the official opening of Pixar Place Hotel, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and the continued transformation of the Downtown Disney District.
Here’s a look at what’s coming:
1. Pixar Place Hotel Reimagined – Opens Jan. 30, 2024: This will mark the official transformation of Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel into the first fully Pixar-themed hotel in the United States. The 15-story hotel overlooking Disney California Adventure Park will offer Pixar-themed guest rooms, new dining featuring Great Maple restaurant, a rooftop pool area, play court and more.
2. “Mickey’s Mix Magic” – performing Jan. 8-March 21 and April 15-25: Projections, lighting effects, lasers and catchy Disney tunes create a family-friendly dance party atmosphere throughout Disneyland Park. The high-energy nighttime spectacular is enhanced with the addition of fireworks on select evenings.
3. “Magic Happens” parade – Returns Feb. 2: Moments of magic from Walt Disney Animation Studios and Pixar Animation Studios films are brought to life on a grand scale with stunning floats, artistic costumes and an energetic musical score.
4. The Haunted Mansion Reimagined – Fall 2024: The Haunted Mansion will close for refurbishment starting on on Jan. 22, 2024. The refurbishment project will include an expansion to the Haunted Mansion grounds with an expanded outdoor queue, new gardens, a fountain, a gazebo, a greenhouse, and a new retail shop themed to a carriage house.
5. Reimagined Pixar Fest – April 26 – Aug. 4, 2024: From colorful décor and themed menu items to commemorative merchandise, the Disneyland Resort theme parks, hotels and Downtown Disney District will have a Pixar twist of friendly fun for a limited time. This festival of friendship is highlighted by entertainment featuring Pixar stories.
6. “Together Forever – A Pixar Nighttime Spectacular” – returns April 26-Aug. 4: A tribute to the journey of friendship, this heartwarming show returns with some all-new scenes as part of the limited-time Pixar Fest
7. “Wondrous Journeys” – Returns for a special presentation March 22-April 14: Originally created as a tribute to the 100th anniversary of The Walt Disney Company in 2023, the nighttime spectacular includes nods to Walt Disney Animation Studios films over the past century. Main Street, U.S.A., Sleeping Beauty Castle, the façade of “it’s a small world” and the Rivers of America become an artist’s canvas with lighting effects, customized projections, sparkling fireworks and more.
8. “Better Together – A Pixar Pals Celebration!” – debuts April 26: The new daytime parade at Disney California Adventure Park debuts during Pixar Fest, featuring favorite friends and new characters from the latest Pixar films, including “Turning Red.”
9. New Disneyland After Dark event – May 5, 7, 2024: An all-new, nostalgic celebration as Disneyland After Dark: Disney Channel Nite comes to life, highlighting themed offerings from favorite Disney Channel shows across various eras of programming with fantastic music, memorable characters, high-energy parties, unique photo opportunities, and more.
10. Fantasmic! Returns – May 24, 2024: The nighttime spectacular “Fantasmic!” will once again illuminate the Rivers of America at Disneyland Park, featuring new special effects, a thrilling new battle scene between Sorcerer Mickey and Maleficent, plus the return of the iconic “Peter Pan” scene. In this treasured show, fantastic events and images from Disney stories come to life through soaring music, dozens of live performers, character appearances and state-of-the-art projections.
11. Star Tours New Adventures – Spring 2024: New adventures are coming to Star Tours. Disney has not announced what the new adventures will be other than it will feature Ahsoka Tano.
12. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure – Late 2024: This highly-anticipated change to Splash Mountain is expected sometime in the second half of 2024. A lot of work can be seen on the exterior of the attraction. The story will pick up where the film left off as guests join Princess Tiana and jazz-loving alligator Louis on an adventure down the bayou as they prepare to host a one-of-a-kind celebration during Mardi Gras season where everyone is welcome. Along the way, guests will encounter familiar faces, make new friends and travel through the bayou to original music inspired by songs from the film.
13. Downtown Disney District Reimagining – Sometime in 2024: Work continues on the dining and shopping district with the openings of of Paseo and Céntrico, serving Mexican cuisine by Michelin-starred Chef Carlos Gaytán, and Din Tai Fung, a world-renowned Chinese restaurant known for its soup dumplings and noodles.
