2024 Walt Disney World Marathon maps, event guide available
The runner’s digital event guide for the 2024 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend is available online, including the course maps for each of the events as well as spectator viewpoints and and tips.
The race weekend is from Jan. 3 through Jan. 7, 2024, with a 5K, 10K half-marathon and marathon events. In addition, a Health & Fitness Expo will take place Jan. 3 through Jan. 6 at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.
The signature marathon event will take runners through all four theme parks and past the entrance to Blizzard Beach. Runners will get the opportunity to run near three of the four park icons. They will run through Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom and near the Hollywood Tower Hotel at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Spaceship Earth in EPCOT. The course does not take them near the Tree of Life, but past Expedition Everest at Animal Kingdom.
Walt Disney World Marathon
The marathon starts at 5 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 7, 2024, outside of EPCOT, and after a brief run behind the Land pavilion in EPCOT and past Spaceship Earth, the course exits that theme park and winds its way up World Drive toward the Magic Kingdom.
The course goes past the Contemporary before heading to the Magic Kingdom entrance. Once entering the Magic Kingdom, the course goes down Main Street, U.S.A, then toward Tomorrowland, through Tomorrowland to Fantasyland, passing Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and then through Cinderella Castle toward Liberty Square, then Adventureland and exiting the Magic Kingdom.
Next is a five-mile trek to Disney’s Animal Kingdom and entering at the rear of the theme park in the Africa section before heading toward Expedition Everest and through Dinoland before exiting the park. After then passing the Disney Coronado Springs Resort and Blizzard Beach, runners will go to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
The course has runners briefly passing the Hollywood Tower Hotel down Sunset Boulevard and out the entrance. At mile 24 you are on the Boardwalk at Disney’s BoardWalk Resort and then re-enter EPCOT and run around the World Showcase to the Creations Shop and then exit through the area between Mission Space and Test Track into the parking area and the finish.
Walt Disney World Half Marathon
The half-marathon course will take the runners through Magic Kingdom and EPCOT. In this race, runners will run the same path as the marathon in Magic Kingdom and get to go near Spaceship Earth in EPCOT. The half marathon takes place on Saturday Jan. 6 and starts at 5 a.m. as well.
Walt Disney World 10K
The 10K race takes place on Friday, Jan. 5 at 5 a.m. The race starts at EPCOT, goes inside the park, then past Disney’s Beach and Yach Club, past Disney’s BoardWalk, and goes back into EPCOT, finishing the run around the World Showcase.
Walt Disney World 5K
The 5K is the first race to kick off the weekend on Jan. 4, at 5 a.m. The race goes through EPCOT.
Daniel dos Santos beat his training partner and 2022 champion Vanilson Neves by 33 seconds to win the 30th annual Walt Disney World Marathon on Sunday, Jan. 8, 2023.
The dos Santos victory continued Brazil’s domination of this race. His win marked the 16th time in the last 18 years, including the last two, that a Brazilian has won this race. Could the streak continue?
