ABC to debut special short to celebrate Disney’s 100th anniversary
In celebration of the Walt Disney Co.’s 100th anniversary, ABC will broadcast a special evening of programming on Oct. 15 with a unique short featuring 543 characters from more than 85 Disney feature-length and short films.
The evening will be hosted by Kelly Rippa featuring exclusive moments with Rippa and sneak peeks into the exciting projects Disney has in store. The highlight of the evening will include the world broadcast premieres of two Disney gems – Walt Disney Animation Studios’ new animated short film, “Once Upon a Studio,” and the beloved Oscar-winning feature, “Encanto.”
“The Wonderful World of Disney: Disney’s 100th Anniversary Celebration!” is slated to air on Sunday, Oct. 15 from 8 to 10:30 p.m. EDT.
“Once Upon a Studio” brings together a star-studded ensemble of beloved characters from Walt Disney Animation Studios. The short showcases 543 characters from more than 85 Disney feature-length and short films. Heroes, villains, princes, princesses, sidekicks, and sorcerers come together in a spectacular group photo to celebrate Disney’s 100th anniversary. The film combines hand-drawn and CG animation, serving as a tribute to a century of storytelling, artistry, and technological achievements. This will be followed by “Encanto.”
Disney is all set to officially mark its 100th anniversary on Oct. 16 with an array of programming that will span across Disney+ and its extensive network of channels. Additional updates will be coming this week.
The evening’s schedule for Sunday, Oct. 15, is as follows:
- 7 p.m. – “America’s Funniest Home Videos”
- 8 p.m. – “The Wonderful World of Disney: Disney’s 100th Anniversary Celebration!”
