Fab 50 Disney character statues getting a makeover, will remain

The interactive Disney Fab 50 Character Collection statues will remain acros all four Walt Disney World theme parks and will be getting is getting a bit of a makeover during the next few months by Disney Imagineers.

The 36 statues feature one or two Disney, Pixar, Marvel or Star Wars characters and were put up for Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary. Each have a medalion with a large 50th anniversary. The Imagineers will be removing the medallion and painting over the area, according to a Disney photo

The statues interact with the MagicBand+ and respond differently. To activate the statue you need to waive as you would to a friend. Don’t turn the MagicBand+ toward the statue, there is no need to do “Mickey to Mickey.”Some will play music and some will respond with dialogue. Mickey Mouse will say “I’ve been just thinking about you. Good to see you pal,” while Pinocchio will talk about never telling a lie and the Mad Hatter will welcome you. Many others have music playing in the background.

The 50 characters chosen represent stories that move people to dream bigger, follow passions and believe in the power of magic, according to Disney.

The characters share in Walt Disney World Resort’s legacy of hope and optimism, where “two tiny wings” become a source of imagination, where sidekicks become heroes and where unlikely duos become the best of friends.
