Cute alert: Baby addax is born at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge

Another baby announcment has been made at Walt Disney World, this time over at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge where a baby female addax was born.

According to Disney, “Mom Lavender delivered her baby a little earlier than expected, but keepers were delighted by the surprise. The calf is healthy and already bonding with mom on the savanna.”

Seperate animal herds live on the savanna at the lodge area compared to those who live at Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park.

The baby addax is just one of the more than 300 new animal residents many babies born at the Disney resort this year.

This diverse range of births spans the aquatic realm, with the likes of cuttlefish and an eagle ray pup being born at The Seas with Nemo & Friends in EPCOT, to the terrestrial world, including the appearance of an aardvark and a red river hog piglet, not to mention more than 150 newly hatched birds.

The addax is an antelope native to the Sahara Desert.
