Disney’s Grand Floridian main building now under refurbishment

The main building of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, the luxurious and iconic destination nestled along the shores of the Seven Seas Lagoon at Walt Disney World Resort is under refurbishment.

The entire resort has been undergoing major changes the past few years, including the replacement of Mizner’s Lounge with “Beauty and the Beast” themed Enchanted Rose Lounge, a new Mary Poppin’s inspired theme to Citrico’s and throughout the various guest buildings.

The Grand Floridian refurbishment now turns to the main building, including the guest rooms and the lobby. Disney previously stated the lobby refurbishment will maintain the classic theming you know and love with some fresh new enhancements. It appears the lobby update could come in sections. The building remains with the same access to shops and restaurants.

The first area closed is nearest to the front entrance, where the check-in area is located.

This magnificent Victorian-style resort is renowned for its elegance, impeccable service, and proximity to the Magic Kingdom. The Grand Floridian is celebrating its 35th anniversary, opening on June 28, 1988. Inspired by the grand seaside resorts of the 19th century, it was designed to evoke a sense of timeless elegance and sophistication. The resort’s striking white exterior, adorned with intricate gingerbread trimmings and a red gabled roof, stands as a majestic sight along the shores of the lagoon.

Over the years, the Grand Floridian has become synonymous with luxury. The spa contained Victoria & Aolbert’s an elegant (and quite pricey) fine dining experience in a setting inspired by Queen Victoria’s Jubilee Celebration.
