Cinderella Castle to be ‘illuminated’ in new way this holiday season
A new “Frozen-” inspired entertainment experience will illuminate Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom in a new way during this holiday season, Disney World announced today.
The last time we saw lights on the castle was 2019, just before the park shut down for COVID-19. When the park reopened after COVID-19 shutdown the Castle Dream Lights, 32,000 square feet of fishing net supporting 200,000 LED lights making the castle look like its covered in ice, was not used. Then the castle went through a 50th anniversary transformation and again the lights were not put on.
The lights, which debuted in 2007, were originally part of the nightly “Cinderella’s Holiday Wish” show which later became “A Frozen Holiday Wish.”
Now, Disjey said they light will not return, but in its place, “guests will be able to join Elsa, Anna, Olaf, Kristoff, and the Snowgies in front of Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom for ‘Frozen Holiday Surprise,’ a brand new “Frozen”-inspired entertainment experience that will illuminate the castle in a whole new way.
This show will be seen during regular park hours and during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.
Disney is promising more details soon.
