“Peter Pan,” the film about the boy who never grows up, turned 70 this year. Disney’s 14th animated feature was first released on Feb. 5, 1953 and introduced us all to Peter, Wendy, Tinker Bell and all the Lost Boys.
Based on J. M. Barrie’s 1904 play “Peter Pan, or the Boy Who Wouldn’t Grow Up,” the movie was the last Disney animated feature released through RKO before Walt Disney founded its own distribution company.
The film follows Wendy Darling and her two brothers, Michael and John as the meet Peter Pan, his shadow and Tinker Bell and head to Neverland to stay young forever. There, they meet the Lost Boys and go up against Peter’s nemesis – Captain Hook.
