New TRON ride will use virtual queue, individual lightning lane
Guests will be able ride the new TRON Lightcycle / Run coastser at Magic Kingdom by either by using the virtual queue or by paying for an Indivudal Lightning Lane. There will be no standby line for this ride.
Located next to Space Mountain in the Tomorrowland section of Magic Kingdom, the coaster will open on April 4, 2023. Guests with a valid ticket or pass and a theme park reservation for Magic Kingdom Park on the same date will have the opportunity to request to join the virtual queue via the My Disney Experience app.
Specific times on when you can start entering the queue will be announced. Currently, guests can enter virtual queue at 7 a.m. for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewine at EPCOT an again at 1 p.m.
Guests may also have the option to purchase individual – or à la carte – Lightning Lane entry in the My Disney Experience app. On the day of their visit, guests with a valid admission and a park reservation for Magic Kingdom on the same date may visit the Disney Genie Service Tip Board in the app to choose an arrival window and make their purchase before joining the high-speed race against Team Orange. Guests may check the app on the day of their visit for pricing and availability.
The new attraction picks up following the events of ‘TRON: Legacy,’ whose main character, Sam Flynn, is now opening new gateways into this digital realm at specific locations around the world. The first portal he created is at Shanghai Disneyland with the original TRON Lightcycle Power Run, and now Magic Kingdom guests will get their turn through this second gateway.
