Did Disney just give us the opening date for Tron at Magic Kingdom?
Disney Parks on Twitter released a very cryptic video possibly providing a clue to the opening date of Tron Lightcycle/Run at Magic Kingdom.
The video shows portrays the ranking of the Top 10 high schores of a video arcade game, presumably Tron.
The initials represent a variety of things and in most cases the numbers represent a date. The only information Disney has said on the opening is that it will take place in Spring 2023.
Here’s our best gueses on what the rankings mean.
- BI — 14,007,645 – This number represents the world record high score for Tron that was sent in July 2011 by David Cruz of Brandon, Florida.
- US —13,212,023 – This could be the possible opening date for Tron in the U.S. There is a lot of guessing on this one. Let’s walk through this slowly: 1+3=4, which represents April. 21 would be the date and 2023 would be the year. So the opening would be April 21, 2023. – 4/21/2023. This kind of makes sense if you see below.
- TL — 12,172,010 — This is the opening date of “TRON: Legacy” film – 12/17/2010.
- JB — 12,041,949 — Jeff Bridges’ birthday – 12/4/1949.
- MK — 10,011,971 — The opening date for Magic Kingdom — 10/1/1971.
- DL — 7,171,955 — The opening date for Disneyland – 7/17/1955.
- KF — 7,091,982 — The KF represents Kevin Flynn, the lead character in the film portrayed by Jeff Bridges with the opening date of the original “TRON” film – 7/9/1982.
- LB — 7,049,504 — This is the one we have not yet been able to figure out. This does not match any types month, days and years.
- SD — 6,162,016 — Shanghai Disneyland’s open date – 6/16/2016.
- CM – 4,482,023 — The CM might represent Cast Members, and the numbers give the dates for Cast Member previews – 4/4 through 4/8, 2023.
What do you think?
The new attraction picks up following the events of ‘TRON: Legacy,’ whose main character, Sam Flynn, is now opening new gateways into this digital realm at specific locations around the world. The first portal he created is at Shanghai Disneyland with the original TRON Lightcycle Power Run, and now Magic Kingdom guests will get their turn through this second gateway.
“When you enter the attraction’s queue, you’ll feel as if you’re digitized and entering the Grid for a special Lightcycle race alongside your family and friends,” according to Disney. “You’ll all join Team Blue (hence the color of the wheels) for a high-speed launch into a competition against Team Orange. As you swoop and swerve your way around the course, your goal is to be the first to race through eight Energy Gates and secure your victory. Will your team have what it takes?”
