Walt Disney World Railroad reopens with new narration

After fours years of being closed the Walt Disney World Railroad steam engines are once again operating with a new narration and new views of the TRON attraction scheduled to open in 2023.

The train was closed for the construction of TRON. The tracks needed to be moved to accommodate the new attraction. In addition, Disney refreshed the 1.5-mile scenic track looping the park, performed maintenance on all of the vintage steam trains and updated the narration. Four vintage narrow-gauge steam trains originally built between 1916 and 1928, take passengers around the park.

The ride is a bit smoother than in the past, but due to extreme cold and the fact that it has just reopened, the trains spent a few more delays at the stations before moving on.

A new narration introduces us to a new conductor: “Friends I am so delighted you joined us today.

There’s nothing I enjoy more than showing folks around this Magic Kingdom, especially because it is certified proof that in these parts, dreams really do come true. See, there was a time not so long ago that I was just a young fella on Main Street with a balloon in my hand and a wish in my heart that someday I ‘d be the conductor of this train. And wouldn’t you know it with a bit of gumption and a dash of magic, here I am. And believe it when I say around here anything is possible,” according to the narration.

In addition to the ride around the park, there are stops at Main Street Railroad station, Frontierland station near Splash and Thunder mountains and Fantasyland station. Along the way we get a new view of TRON.

As you go through the new tunnel built to accommdate the train, you walk past a walkway that proviudes a view of the tracks for the new attraction coming to Tomorrowland.

From the Main Street station to Frontierland, the naration still point out Splash Mountain as “Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah” is heard in the background. This will soon need to change as Splash Mountain is scheduled to close on Jan. 23, 2023 to be turned into “Tiana’s Bayou Adventure” in 2024.
