Changes coming to Genie+ service at Disney World?
There is a lot of noise in the Disney blogosphere about changes coming to Genie+ at Disney World that will make it a lot easier to modify Lighting Lane selections.
Currently, the only way to modify an existing Lighting Lane is to cancel the reservation and then make a new one. The update that is coming, according to Scott Gustin, who has an excellent track record on his reports, will allow a person to modify the time without have to first cancel. This will only apply to the Genie+ Lighting Lanes and not the Individual Lightning Lane purchases.
The new update of the My Disney Experience app will have a Modify Plan button. The new selection will only work if it is in the same park. For example, if you have a Haunted Mansion Lightning Lane and want to change it for an earlier Pirates of the Caribbean Lightning Lane that will work. It will not allow you to swap out one attraction for example at Magic Kingdom for one at EPCOT. The only way to do that is to cancel the one at Magic Kingdom and then make one for EPCOT.
Modifying the Lightning Lane reservation will not change when you will be able to make another selection. The only way another Lightning Lane selection cane be made is when current selections are redeemed, once they redeem their current selection, once their full arrival window has passed, or after 120 minutes has passed from the original booking (or 120 minutes after the published park opening time, whichever is later).
It is unknown when these changes will go into effect.
