6 fun Myer Christmas windows celebrating Disney’s 100th

Disney’s 100th anniversary celebration is truly a worldwide event with scenes from The Walt Disney Company’s most beloved classics brought to life in this year’s Christmas windows at iconic Australian department store Myer in Melbourne.

The scenes and characters from classic Disney films come to life in a 6-window storyboard, including the famous Disney Studios opening sequence featuring Tinker Bell.

“We’re excited to be bringing the magic of Disney to Myer for all to enjoy. This year our iconic Christmas Windows showcase magical scenes from the most memorable Disney films from the past century, celebrating their unique storylines and much-loved characters,” Myer’s Executive General Manager of Stores Tony Sutton said. Myer operates 58 department stores across Australia

It took a year of planning and preparation to create the exhibit, according to Myer and features:

  • 40 characters, including the iconic Disney Mickey Mouse, Peter Pan, Mary Poppins, and Simba.
  • Sophisticated robotics power scene changes including the transformation into Elsa’s coronation from Disney’s Frozen which will be repeated 35,000 times throughout the duration of the 2022 windows.
  • The iconic Disney Castle has been carefully constructed with 100 individual pieces.

Disney will officially kick off its 100th-anniversary celebration during New Year’s Rockin broadcast on ABC (which Disney owns).

Disney is calling the celebration 100 Years of Wonder. The new Disney100.com website will go live on Jan. 1, 2023, and will highlight the past, the present, and the future of The Walt Disney Company—and chronicle the yearlong celebration

The Walt Disney World Company started with Walt and his brother Roy Disney, on Oct 16, 1923, when Walt signed a contract with M. J. Winkler to produce a series of Alice Comedies. The date is used as the start of the Disney company, first known as “The Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio.”
