Disney World hosts Pop Warner football, cheer and dance championships

It’s Pop Warner Super Bowl Championship time at Disney World where some of the best youth football teams from around the country come to compete.

One of the most compelling story lines of this year’s tournament, belongs to the Hoffman Estates Redhawks program out of suburban Chicago, which has brought at least one team to the Pop Warner Super Bowl for the eighth consecutive year. This year, they have three teams competing.

More than 70 percent of current NFL players got their start playing Pop Warner football including New York Giants WR Odell Beckham, Jr., Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald and Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck.

Games are taking place Saturday, Sunday, Dec. 4, Dec. 5, Dec. 7 and Dec. 8.

In addition, more than 400 teams will compete in the National Cheer & Dance Championships taking place at HP Field House. Cheer & Dance Squads compete in four different age ranges (Jr. Pee Wee, Pee Wee, Jr. Varsity & Varsity), among three group sizes (Small, Medium & Large), and eight YCADA Divisions (PW1, PW2, PW3 & PW4).  The Dance teams compete in two competition categories (YCADA Pom Performance and Theme Dance).
