Disney World introduces variable pricing for Disney Genie + service
Walt Disney World is changing how it is charging for the Disney Genie+ service starting today, Oct. 11, introducing variable pricing that will also increase the rates.
Effective today, Disney Genie+ at Walt Disney World now starts at $15, and may go as high as $22 per person per day (plus tax), depending on the date.
In addition, some Individual Lightning Lane selections are also shifting to variable prices. Star Wars Rise of the Resistance at Disney’s Hollywood Studios will now see prices go as high as $22, starting at $15.
According to a statement from Disney:
Disney Genie+ service continues to be very popular among our guests. As we continue to manage the strong demand we are seeing for this service, we are introducing variable pricing for Disney Genie+, beginning Tuesday, Oct. 11.
At Walt Disney World Resort, Disney Genie+ will also vary in price based on the date a guest is visiting. Similar to theme park tickets, throughout the year, prices may be lower on less busy days and higher during peak periods like Thanksgiving and Christmas. For example, now through the end of October, prices will be $15 per Guest, per day on less busy dates, $22 on some of our busier dates, and somewhere in between on other dates (plus tax; prices subject to change beyond October). As a reminder, single-day purchases of Disney Genie+ at Walt Disney World Resort are only available directly through the My Disney Experience app on the guest’s date of visit.

The variable pricing is similiar to the variable pricing Disney uses for admission tickets. The cost of a ticket to a Walt Disney World theme park varies depending upon the time of year and day.
While Disney publishes the cost of ticket prices by day, Disney is not providing Genie+ pricing, thus forcing guests to decided on the day they visiti.
Disney World Disney Genie+ Service
Use the Lightning Lane entrances offered through Disney Genie+ service and save time waiting in line. On average, Guests can enter 2 to 3 attractions or experiences per day using Lightning Lane entrances, if the first selection is made early in the day.
You can enjoy a Disney Genie+ service Lightning Lane entrance once per day. If you’d like to experience an attraction again or see a certain show again within the same day, you are welcome to use our regular standby line.

How to Purchase Disney Genie+ Service:
- Be sure to have your valid Disney theme park ticket and your Disney Park Pass reservation.
- From the main menu in the My Disney Experience mobile app, select “My Disney Genie Day”.
- Select the “My Day” tab, then tap “Get Disney Genie+ for Today”.
What Are the Rules?
- Make sure you have valid admission and a theme park reservation to the same park on the same day.
- Disney Genie+ service Lightning Lane selections can only be made one at a time. You must redeem an existing Disney Genie+ service Lightning Lane selection or wait 2 hours—whichever comes first—before making another Lightning Lane entrance selection through Disney Genie+ service. Please note: the 2-hour wait to make another selection begins when the park opens, even if you made your first booking at 7:00 AM.
- All attractions and experiences are subject to availability.
- Guests may be able to purchase Disney Genie+ service on the day of their park visit and make their first Disney Genie+ selection for Lightning Lane entry starting at 7:00AM.
