First look: D23 Expo photos of what’s coming to Disneyland, Disney World

The D23 Expo 2022 kicks off this morning In Anaheim, California and is the gathering of some of the biggest Disney fans out there (who were fast enough to get in a virtual queue to purchase tickets).

This is the seventh D23 Expo that is filled with new merchandise, numerous displays and there will be numerous announcements to be made from films, to television and of course the parks.

A press event took place night before (sorry, we weren’t invited, but will be covering and providing more details as the weekend proceeds) where Disney CEO Bob Chapek talked up the media on how Disney is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year and how the company is positioning itself for the next 100 years.

Let’s take a look, from those who attended, at some of the things fans will see coming to Disneyland and Walt Disney World.

Here is Chapek’s announcement.

  • This is the seventh D23 Expo (previous D23 Expos were held in 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2017, and 2019).
  • The event is open exclusively to D23 Members; D23 Gold and Gold Duo Members receive a discount on tickets, among other benefits.
  • There are five main venues for presentations: Hall D23 (6,800 seats), Premiere Stage (3,000), Backlot Stage (1,250), Walt Disney Archives Stage (725), and Hyperion Stage (365).

Here’s a look at a mode lof Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, which will be replacing Spalsh Mountain. In addition, the Disneyland version sill have a new Tiana-themed restauarant added as well. No word yet on if one is coming to Walt Disney World.

Those attending D23 Expo will get a an inperson look at what the new statue called “Walt the Dreamer” looks like. The statue is coming to EPCOT in Walt Disney World.

For those who love the Haunted Mansion there are numerous items on display.

While this has left Walt Disney World, Walt Disney’s Grumman Gulfstream I plane called affectionally “The Mouse ” has been refurbished and is on display.

The Journey of Water Inspired by “Moana” that is coming to EPCOT will have a 16-foot tall Te Fiti Figure.
