We watched Disney Enchantment with the new MagicBand+
As the fanfare is played signifying the start of Disney Enchantment at the Magic Kingdom, the MagicBand+ illuminates, its colors changing from white, to blue, to yellow. And as the first firework breaches the sky, the band goes dark. But not for long.
We watched Disney Enchantment with the new MagicBand+ two days before it goes on sale on July 27 to experience how the latest version of the MagicBand interacted with the nighttime spectacular.
The new MagicBand+ is the latest iteration of this wearable tech that adds interactivity without having to touch the band to anything.
The band activates music and dialogue when it interacts with the Fab 50 statues, allows you to go on a bounty hunting adventure at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and lights up during nighttime spectaculars. The band still retains all of the elements from the previous bands — it can act as your ticket, your room key and charge card, and your PhotoPass.
During the Disney Enchantment fireworks, the MagicBand+ lit up and vibrated during various parts of the show to help accentuate the moment.
The band’s colors corresponded to the color of Cinderella Castle during the show.
The band turned blue for parts of “Into the Unknown” as the castle turned blue. And glowed yellow as Tinker Bell takes flight.
During the finale, as the sky erupts with fireworks and the castle cycles through various colors, the band changes at the same time.
During the 20-minute show, it illuminates for maybe a total of three minutes, which is nice since it is not distracting. Remember those Glow with the Show Mickey ear hats that were introduced in 2013. For those who may not remember, the ears would light up during the nighttime shows so there could be a sea of people in front of you whose heads were glowing.
It will also be interesting to see how this changes once the MagicBand+ launch takes place and how it could change over time.
