Disneyland Band staffing changes coming

The Disneyland Band, which has been playing at Disneyland since the opening in 1955, is being altered in its current form,  according to the musicians union which represents the band members.

“The Disneyland Band current creative offering and configuration is approaching the end of its run.

“The last day of performance will be July 16th, 2015. As required by our Collective Bargaining Agreement, this memorandum shall serve as notice to each member of the cast,” according to an end of run notice the union received from Disney.

According to Bob Sanders of The  Orange County Musician’s Association, Local 7, AFM, musicians were told they would be re-auditioned.

Disney earlier has announced that starting July 17, 2015, the 60th anniversary of Disneyland, that the Disneyland Band will premiere “a new sound – with new musical arrangements and themed performances,” according to the Disney Parks Blog.
