Video: What are people from EPCOT called? A ‘Cosmic Rewind’ question
The original idea of EPCOT was not as a theme park, but as the true Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow with an urban city center, residential areas, industrial areas, schools and a mass transit system.
And as such, those living in EPCOT would have been called — (imagine the sound of crickets here) – and that’s the question brought up during the pre-show at the new Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind attraction.
The new roller coaster opening May 27 in EPCOT is housed in the new Wonders of Xandar pavilion. This is the first “other-world” showcase pavilion at EPCOT, created by the people of Xandar. Here people from Terra (Earth) can learn more about the Xandarians and their technologies, as well as the commonalities between the two cultures.
But how does one address the people from EPCOT? Centurion Tal Marik, portrayed by Terry Crews, Commander of the Starcharter, asks that question prior to addressing the group who are about to be transported onto his ship.
Not knowing the camera is on before meeting the group, he rehearses, “Welcome People of EPCOT, EPCOTters, EPCOPTians , citizens of EPCOT. Does anyone know they call themselves?”
