Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon will host 2022 Special Olympics surfing competition
More than 5,500 athletes will be coming to Disney World this June to participate in the 2022 Special Olympics USA Games. And while the majority of the games will be played at the EPSN Wide World of Sports Complex, a first-of-its-kind competition will take place at Typhoon Lagoon.
The water park will play host to the first-ever Special Olympics surfing competition. Typhoon Lagoon contains North America’s largest outdoor wave pool and offers surf lessons.
The Special Olympics will be taking place June 5 through June 12. The surfing will be held prior to the water park’s opening and after closing on the following dates:
June 6: 6:30 to 9:30 a.m.
June 7: 6:30 to 9:30 a.m.
June 8: 6 to 11 p.m.
