6 song playlist announced for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
Disney has announced the playlist for the new Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind coaster coming May 27 to EPCOT and we now know the songs will rotate. So, you might hear a different song each time you ride the attraction.
Disney Imagineers came up with a hundred possible songs and whittled it down to these six on the playlist for for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind , Zach Riddley, Portfolio Executive, New Experience Development at Walt Disney Imagineering stated on his Instagram:
- “September” – Earth Wind and Fire, released in 1978
- “Disco Inferno” – The Trammps, released in 1976
- “Conga” – Miami Sound Machine, released in 1985
- “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” – Tears for Fears, released in 1985
- “I Ran” – A Flock of Seagulls, released in 1982
- “One Way or Another” – Blondie, released in 1978
“We had to find that perfect balance for the song choices with fun energy, a flow that matched the major movements of the ride, and (where we could) lyrics that gave a fun nod to the story of our attraction,” Riddley wrote.
Several dozen of the songs that did not make the playlist will be played in the exit corridor.
This attraction will be the first coaster attraction at EPCOT and the first reverse launch of a Disney coaster. It will also be one of the longest fully enclosed coasters in the world.
The ride vehicles will rotate 360 degrees and will position guests toward the action inside the ride.
The premise of the ride is that the people from the planet Xandar are coming to Earth and creating the first “other-world” showcase at EPCOT – the Wonders of Xandar pavilion. At the pavilion, guests will learn about their culture and discover more how the two worlds are similar in many ways.
Then Eson, a Celestial, who has been watching Eath for eons is looking ‘to right a wrong in a big way,’ and the Guardians of the Galaxy — Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket, and Groot — step in to help save the day.
There are currently cast member previews taking place in which Disney cast has been riding the attraction, but have not yet walked through the queue to see any of the pre-shows. We will be riding the attraction during the Annual Passholder previews and will provide a full review in May prior to the opening of the attraction to the general public.
